LMFAO.

All the mask confusion would have been cleared away in a trice.

Simply a consult with an Industrial Hygienist.

They know all about such things.

Ask me how I know this.

Yep, and those of us trained by them.

Mine is a Honeywell Model 7700, two stage.

What gear you got?

None now. Long ago I was certified in respirators for shipboard work. I know that none are capable of filtering out viruses. Well, at least none that are readily available by most. And I know that hows and whys. Shocked that most of that is not common knowledge.

I also know that the filter/s need changed frequently, far more frequently than wearing one all day long. I also know the danger to health for using the filter/s past their rated life spans, which is far shorter than a full dayтАЩs work. Shocked that so few know basic hygiene, especially medical professionals.

Soap and water and a shop vac.

At lunch and at 4P.

Air dry.

Change cans and filters as necessary.

And good ventilation otherwise, anyway.

Happy lungs.

Happy me. :)

Yes, that was our work schedule. I have since read many places that surgical masks, including during surgeries lasting longer are to changed every 4 hours. I also believe that was the time limit of our CBR masks too.

I now teach at med schools and long since not needed a respirator or a mask.

You would think that would be the obvious thing to do but the only interview with such a person that I know of was with Ivor Cummins. Everyone that I have talked to thinks that doctors are the experts on such matters.

P.S How do you know of such things?

Expand full comment

A lot.

I have been grinding Bondo, painting cars, cutting kerfs, stripping wood, doing demo, welding metal, hunting bugs, working in labs, and more.

All create particulates/fumes that are bad for lungs.

For >45 years.

Real Respirators have kept me healthy and well away from the O2 tanks.

I learned how to protect myself from Industrial Hygienists.

And I know full well that dust masks are useless BS.

An amusing affectation, at best. :)

TQ for this comment. pls enjoy the satire in this 2" video: "Are you or a loved one suffering from a medical coincidence? You want proper medical care, but you donтАЩt want people sniffing around asking a whole bunch of questions about what might be causing your problem. At the Kaufman Institute for Coincidence we wonтАЩt look into the cause of your heart or other problem, weтАЩll just fix it. ThatтАЩs right, we promise to only look at your symptoms. We wonтАЩt get all curious looking for causes, because that could get your employer, or your doctor, into some legal hot water. And nobody wants that!..." - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZZFnNwdgqQ
