Well, technically speaking I'm the first year of Gen-X and I've always identified with Gen-X rather than with my Boomer parents which are SOO boomerific. Yeah, I'm the oldest Gen-X in the crew but that's where my head is at.

And anyway, yeah, maybe the libs that I knew just talked a good game. But they seemed real about their concerns when I was young. Maybe I just wanted to believe.

But I'll tell ya, they ain't fooling anyone but themselves. And haven't been for quite some time. Even my "10-20 years" thing in my original post was being generous.

Bottom line, "what is" matters. "What was"... well... is sometimes romanticized or given more credit than it deserves!
