"In a “scientific survey,” you normally aren’t allowed to collect the identity of the responder"

BULLSHIT. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A "SCIENTIFIC SURVEY". A SCIENTIFIC THEORY IS A THEORY THAT ALLOWS YOU TO MAKE PREDICTIONS THAT CAN BE TESTED WITH REPRODUCIBLE EXPERIMENTS. DARWIN'S THEORY OF EVOLUTION IS NOT A SCIENTIFIC THEORY YET IS STILL A THEORY BASED UPON DISCOVERY. THE UNITED NATIONS CLIMATE CHANGE SCIENCE FRAUD IS NOT A SCIENTIFIC THEORY EITHER. NEITHER EVOLUTION OR CLIMATE CHANGE THEORY PROVIDES YOU WITH THE ABILITY TO MAKE PREDICTIONS THAT CAN BE PROVEN WITH REPRODUCIBLE EXPERIMENTS. STATISTICAL EVIDENCE BASED UPON SURVEY IS NOT SCIENCE. NOT EVERYTHING IS SCIENCE. BOTANY IS NOT SCIENCE. NOT ALL KNOWLEDGE THEORY SPECULATION IS SCIENTIFIC.

OK, but I think a survey can be used to gather information for the purpose of understanding a phenomenon. So, I think here the adjective 'scientific' is suitable, especially if it is used to imply that the survey will be designed to follow rules for being unbiased

Why do you say Botany isn’t science? Isn’t it one of the first natural sciences?
