Hello to you Klaus, in northern Africa!! I went to Morocco in my travels. It was great!
I heard too many nasty stories from my patients about giving birth in hospital (seriously, I could write a book on it that no-one would want to read!), plus I've got a great pelvis for birthing, and have plenty of courage, so home-birthing it was :-) For my third child, it felt like "I am woman, hear me roar!" It was pretty cool. And had I been in a hospital for my second child, he would've been a C-section, and/or likely full-blown cerebral palsy. And my firstborn would've also ended up as a C-section! So I chose the right path!
We DID home-school for a year, mid-2021 to mid-2022, during the height of the covid madness in Australia, and I'm seriously considering doing it again, actually. Hubby and I just have to finish (literally) building our house this year (owner-builders)! Then I'll have the necessary time to dedicate myself to it. Our oldest prefers school but our younger two are quite open to being home-schooled again. I know they'd all do better being home-schooled again, but at least they can't be indoctrinated by school because we got to them first! :-D We discuss EVERYTHING with our children, giving them different angles for them to think about as well as asking them what they think. They have lots of chores to do at home and on our farm, they are active, they sleep well, they eat well, they make awesome school lunches now and even cook some dinners, they read lots, they do music and art/craft; they're pretty well rounded! And they hate the idea of vaccines and can see the damage that it causes in the kids around them. In fact, a kid in my son's class had a stroke last year. At 10 years old! His mother works at the hospital. Enough said! Crazy times we're living in. And our kids know it. So at least our kids are not dumbed-down, unlike most of their classmates.
Oh, and FYI, it's pretty easy to home-school in our state in Australia. Perhaps it's not so easy in other countries/states, though? I think most parents don't do it, though, because 1. they have no idea that anything is wrong in the first place, 2. they don't believe in themselves enough and 3. they'd rather be out there earning a buck in the attempt to one day live in a McMansion. Plus it's honestly easier going out to work than home-schooling the kids!!
But don't you worry. We're all good. I'm tough as nails and can handle anything. Growing up with my very difficult mother has made me, um, able to deal with most things in life?! And my kids also know how capable I am, and the best part is that I'm seeing that same capability in my children as they get older, which is WONDERFUL!
