My baby was injured by DTaP vaccine at 5 months. That was the only shot she got that day (out of 4 total that she has received, and one of those was unauthorized). It took her 8 weeks to apparently recover, but like many vaccine-injured kids she has turned out to have complex chronic health problems that are disabling. DTaP is supposed to be safer than DPT, and I think it genuinely is -- but DTaP can still cause the exact same adverse effects that DPT can cause, including disability and death. The only place I've ever seen an adequate description of DPT adverse effects is Fisher and Coulter's book "A Shot in the Dark", published in the mid-1980's but still in print. This book should be required reading for every parent who is planning for their child to get DTaP or DPT vaccine. BTW, my kid got pertussis during the 2010 California outbreak. The shot made her much sicker than the illness did.
