Explains the non-stop sirens in my city. City of ~100,000 in Bay Area and I live near a firestation and a hospital, but am hearing emergency vehicle sirens very frequently these days. I counted for a few weeks and it was between 10 and 20 times a day at least. I don't remember that many in a day before this summer. And Covid is not a big problem right now here. So must be something else going on..... I wonder if you could check the dispatches to somehow enumerate this a bit more accurately over the last 6-12 months.
This has been happening a lot in other countries. I'm most familiar with the UK. People were reporting emergency services vehicles driving round, sirens blaring but the people in the vehicles were laughing and joking, leading many to believe it was part of the government's SPI-B behavioural psychology efforts.

Agree! also here in Toronto TONS of helicopters -- where is my laser pointer?

Thats what I have wondered about our helicopter filled skies in Toronto
