I find it incredible that anyone would use typos as a measure of another's credibility.
I worked with brilliant researchers for over 23 years and was shocked at how many of them were such sloppy proofreaders of their own text. I had to rewrite everything that one of my bosses (MD + PhD) wanted to submit for publication. In fact, he came to insist upon it.
To me anyone who writes "looses" credibility loses credibility.
