Who is "Dr. Jonathan E. Canuck" really?

Thanks to your help I've unmasked him: Ryan David Manns, MD. When I asked him to apologize, he ghosted me.

UPDATE

There is no question that Canuck is Ryan David Manns.

If you try to contact Manns, he’ll ignore you, and you’ll get a nastygram from his attorney explaining all the bad things that will happen to you if you if you try to sue him for defamation (anti-SLAPP, etc). It’s pretty much all bullshit because if you’ve been defamed with malicious intent, anti-SLAPP motions don’t fly.

I checked with multiple lawyers who confirmed that I can release the information below about him.

In addition, none of the information posted here violates Twitter rules of information that cannot be disclosed.

If disclosing his information puts him at great personal risk for some reason, I find it very odd he chooses not to respond to my voicemail or text message or pager request.

Here’s the definition of doxxing:

Doxing is the posting of private or identifying information about an individual, group or organization with the intent that the information be used against the target for an unlawful purpose.

During this process, I learned I was not the only victim of his actions. Let me be perfectly clear: the purpose of my posting his name is so that others who have been defamed, harassed, and stalked by him can now file a legal action against him.

And hopefully, this will make him think twice about hurting people in the future.

So my actions are consistent with mitigating further damage. And, once again, my posting of the information below does not violate any Twitter rules:

I believe that his real name is Ryan David Manns. He’s originally from British Columbia, but he now practices in Beaverton, OR at Kaiser Permanente.

Executive summary

“Jonathan E. Canuck” aka “Jonathan E. Kraken” (both are fictitious names) posted on Twitter falsely claiming I owe him $1,000.

This article describes why I’m looking to sue him for defamation.

I have also filed a complaint against his abusive behavior with the Oregon Medical Board using the form on this page.

But first I have to find out who he really is. That’s where you come in. He currently lives near Portland, OR.

If you can help me to discover his real name and address, please let me know in the comments.

As soon as he got wind that I’m looking for him, he immediately hid his tweets from view.

However, I was one step ahead of him and preserved his tweets so you can see what he doesn’t want you to see.

Latest information

He’s had his Twitter account for 12 years. But now, after restricting his tweets and then realizing that didn’t cover his tracks enough, he’s removed his entire account:

My attorney will be notifying Twitter to preserve all records and subpoena them so we can find out who he (or she) really is.

He also removed his account on mastodon.

My original bet

Here’s my offer “Canuck” claims that he satisfied. It’s crystal clear. You must meet all 7 criteria:

1. Study must show the autism rates of both the fully vaxxed vs. the fully unvaxxed cohort

2. PROSPECTIVE study from birth to 6 years old (or more)

3. At least 3,000 in each arm of the study

4. Data must be available

5. Only the FIRST response that complies wins

6. The URL has to be presented on May 14 (Pacific Time)

7. It is not a meta-analysis

Of course, neither paper meets the 7 requirements, but he never bothered to check that. He simply claims victory and maliciously makes false statements on Twitter that I owe him $1,000 and that I move the goalposts.

My thoughts on doxxing

Pseudonyms are not a shield from defamation lawsuits as DrCanuckMD found out.

People are free to comment anonymously about anything.

But when you break the law, don't expect people will not find out who you are.

Filing a defamation lawsuit is a public record and your identity will be there for all to see.

So if you want to remain anonymous, do not break the law.

About Canuck

He lives near Portland, OR. Probably around 6 miles from Timberline Lodge (National Historic Landmark). We know this because he admitted it publicly:

1. The photos match up

2. Multiple people contacted me privately and fingered him

3. He lives in the right area

4. He is Family practice

5. He is former BC, now living in Portland

6. People knew his personal details from previous investigations

7. This YouTube video from May 2020 completely outed him. Not only do the descriptors match, but look at the join date! It’s an exact match! RyManMD “disappears” and other aliases pop up in his place. This is why he had to delete his entire Twitter account. Because he knew I’d get this in discovery and find his identity. Other things to know about Canuck

Telling people to “piss off” is unprofessional conduct:

In other words, Canuck was aware of the terms. 3,000 fully unvaxxed vs. vaxxed and you compare the rates of autism in both.

Now he simply picks out a small portion of what I asked to deliberately misrepresent my request:

He posted the part in the yellow and then Roman pointed out that Canuck ignored the text above that showed I was right about the papers.

More defamation from Canuck. He claims I owe him and that I keep moving the goalposts. Both are false and defamatory.

I pointed out his tweet about my papers showing the autism link did in fact show the link as I claimed when I posted the links. Then he does what most people do when called out: changes the topic!

Here’s more defamation and I make it clear to him he didn’t meet the terms. He pretends he did and again repeats the defamation, without evidence, that I “moved the goalposts.” You can’t make this stuff up like he did. That is malicious.

It appears that Manns may not be working alone

Consider the following twitter thread that I just happen to run across. The first tweet links in Manns. The rest is about the people he is allegedly affiliated with.

So in other words, this adds to the satisfying the malice aspect of my defamation lawsuit:

Next steps

Tweets like Canuck’s are very damaging to my reputation.

Since leaving my job in high tech, I make money on people accepting the bets and losing. These are large bets, on the order of $1M. False and defamatory statements like this from a medical doctor tarnish my reputation making it more difficult for me to earn an income. Canuck has a large following of people (17K) who trust him making his statements even more damaging.

There is very clear malice involved. Instead of mitigating damages by admitting he was wrong, Canuck hid his tweets from view to make it harder for me to gather evidence.

Steve is a great man but there are people listening to this guy. I have only written a few Substack posts and I’ve never sent them out to my list, but I wrote one about this doctor, who sends his followers after us to falsely accuse us and get us permanently banned. He has them fled to the page, trolls, and mass report and I was banned after 14 1/2 years on Twitter. For using the word cretin in a sentence. Not even calling anybody one. He’s been defending people for years. I’m glad somebody is finally taking him to task.

Summary

I’m done with people defaming me and getting away with it.

Dr. Canuck has a real name and a medical practice near Portland, OR and he needs to be held accountable for his defamatory statements. In addition, I may also report him to his medical board as most have rules governing behavior on social media.

The fact that he is doing absolutely nothing to mitigate damages is further evidence of malice.

The bottom line is this: Dr. Canuck is now in a lot of trouble and I will be seeking damages in a court of law.
