I don't agree that we should abandon our allies no matter who they are. Kuwait, Japan, Thailand, Israel, none should be abandoned because someone feels like interests are best served stabbing them in the back and abrogating agreements we swore to.
OK, and we categorically disagree. I can suggest reading some history of Israel and Hamas/Terrorism. Again, China won't destroy the world and themselves just to genocide Israel. Israel won't nuke Iran unless they are mostly genocided. Their nukes are a last resort as in "If you kill us all, we'll push the button just before we die."
Therefore coddling terrorists and allowing them to wipe out Israel would actually bring about that nuclear war you want to avoid.
