Steve, you should make a correction: Bell's Palsy would only affect one side of the face, and is more likely the cause of Newsom's disappearance for a couple weeks. Guillain- Barre is a much more serious condition which can lead to overall paralysis, but would start usually in the hands and feet with tingling sensations and weakness.
