I do hope it will begin to pay off, maybe after these midterm elections confirm a Republican victory in the Legislature. Then it will be up to the Republicans to show some spine and do the job they are tasked to do by the people...that's my biggest concern at this point.

So, it's not reasonable to assume they'll back off meekly. From a UK perspective of US legal system, these lawsuits seem to fester for years and eventually disappear without any real solution to the problem.
