I agree, she really should have known better a long time ago. But I'm not sure that a medical education is meant to encourage clear thinking. MD's go through years of indoctrination, while being subjected to sleep deprivation and overwork. It's literally like being sucked into a mind-control cult.
So now she shows some indication that maybe she's curious, or nervous. She had a polite conversation with Steve, and he very politely offered more information. Where is the benefit in following up a few hours later with unreasonable demands and threats?
