Your observation is very apropos. Just like the three topics that are not discussed in polite company (money, religion and politics), it is often the very things that are uncomfortable or indeed taboo to discuss, that are the very critical issues that NEED to be addressed! E.g the fable of the emperor's new clothes, the metaphor of the elephant in the room, and so forth.
